A Local Solution to a Very Familiar Problem

Five years ago, we bought a house that I’d describe as a proper “doer-upper.” It needed work – and lots of it. Because we were living in it during the renovations, building materials and landscaping products came in constantly… and so did the pallets.

Like many people, those pallets would sit around for months, waiting for the next skip. And you definitely aren’t fitting a pallet in a Toyota Corolla, and my wife wasn’t having one in her car either. Once I started noticing pallets everywhere, I realised I wasn’t alone — people all across the PR area were struggling with the same thing.

The Realisation

While working my day job as a sales rep, I was driving around Preston daily. Once I started paying attention, I saw pallets everywhere:
on driveways, behind gates, next to garages, in gardens… once you see them, you can’t unsee them.

The truth is simple:

  • Most cars are too small
  • The nice cars are too nice
  • Skips are expensive
  • And a pallet takes up a huge chunk of one

People weren’t lazy — they were stuck.

The Turning Point

Earlier this year, my family’s love of the outdoors meant we finally bought a van for weekend trips. That’s when something clicked.

If I’ve got a van… why not help people get rid of their pallets?

So I knocked on a few doors and spoke to people around the PR area.
The answer was a clear yes — people would absolutely use a pallet pickup service.

So I tried it for a few weeks. The demand was instant. People were grateful, relieved and happy to pay a few quid to get the job done.

Where We Are Today

What started as a small idea has become a proper local service.

Today:

  • We cover most of the PR postcode area
  • Expansion into WN, BB and BL postcode area is coming soon
  • Bookings are quick and simple
  • Collections are fast and reliable
  • The response has been overwhelmingly positive

This is now what I do — and I’m proud of it.
